Duffer Brothers Join Tom Cruise and Timothée Chalamet in Star-Studded Video Celebrating Paramount’s Legacy
In April, the Duffer Brothers conclude their decade-long journey with Netflix as they embark on a new chapter at Paramount, signing a four-year exclusive deal for feature films, television, and streaming projects. The announcement positioned the creators of *Stranger Things* front and center at a high-profile event showcasing Paramount’s cinematic legacy and future.
The promotional mini-movie, directed by Jon M. Chu of *Wicked* fame and narrated by Tom Cruise, premiered during Paramount’s presentation at CinemaCon in Las Vegas on Wednesday, later being featured at the company’s upfront presentation in Los Angeles. The Duffer Brothers appeared alongside an array of talent recently signed to overall or first-look deals under Paramount’s new leadership. This star-studded lineup includes names like James Mangold, Issa Rae, Dan Trachtenberg, and Will Smith, as well as notable actors associated with upcoming studio projects, such as Timothée Chalamet, Mark Wahlberg, Chris Pratt, Marlon Wayans, John Krasinski, Teyana Taylor, and Johnny Knoxville. Notably, Chalamet is seen taking a piece of chocolate from the iconic *Forrest Gump* box on the famous bench from that classic film.
In a memorable scene, the Duffer Brothers are depicted enjoying popcorn in a dark movie theater, where renowned director Jerry Bruckheimer leans in and remarks, “This is my favorite part.”

Expressing their enthusiasm about this new venture, Matt and Ross Duffer commented, “David [Ellison], Josh [Goldstine], and Dana [Goldberg] are passionate about bringing bold, original films to the big screen. To be part of that mission is not just exciting – it’s the fulfillment of a lifelong dream. And to do so at a studio with such a storied Hollywood legacy is a privilege we don’t take lightly.”
The fast-paced promotional video concludes with Tom Cruise perched atop Paramount Studios’ water tower, gazing over Los Angeles. His voiceover declares, “The future is paramount and the future looks pretty great from here.”
Reportedly, this daring stunt showcasing Cruise was performed without green screen effects, highlighting the actor’s penchant for taking risks in his performances.
