Two People Tragically Killed After Leaving Their Car in North Hollywood DUI Accident
Man and Woman Killed in North Hollywood Crash; DUI Suspect Arrested
A tragic accident in North Hollywood early Sunday morning led to the deaths of two individuals after they exited a car on Colfax Avenue. The incident occurred around 2:30 a.m., when an Acura traveling northbound struck the pair moments after they left the rear driver’s side of a Toyota Camry. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the Acura was reported to be speeding.
The collision resulted in the immediate death of a man in his 30s at the scene. A woman in her 50s, another passenger from the Camry, later succumbed to her injuries at a nearby hospital. Three other occupants of the Camry sustained minor injuries.
Following the crash, the driver of the Acura, identified as 32-year-old Vidal Cruz Jr. from Pacoima, fled northeast and crashed into several parked vehicles after entering a private driveway. Cruz was treated for injuries at a hospital before being arrested and booked on two counts of murder. His bail has been set at $4 million; however, court records do not specify an initial court date.
