Jackie and Shadow Welcoming Their Second Hatchling
Eagles Welcome Second Chick at Big Bear Nest
Big Bear, CA – The beloved eagle pair Jackie and Shadow have celebrated the hatching of their second chick, bringing joy to their followers online. The second chick emerged from its shell at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, about 12 hours after its sibling hatched.
According to Friends of Big Bear Valley (FOBBV), the nonprofit organization that operates the popular livestream of the eagles, fans had been eagerly anticipating this moment as they monitored the progression of the eggs over the weekend.
This new addition marks a significant recovery for Jackie and Shadow, who faced a difficult start to the year. In January, they lost two eggs when ravens breached their nest. However, the duo laid a second clutch in February, resulting in the two eaglets that have now hatched during the Easter weekend.
FOBBV reported that the attentive parents are diligently caring for their chicks, providing them with fish and other food. Although the eaglets are still frail and often referred to as “bobbleheads” due to their weak neck muscles, both are thriving as they embark on their new lives.
"Both chicks are doing well, looking great and their journey has just begun," FOBBV remarked in a recent online update.
