Ariana Grande Teases ‘AG8’ and Leaves Corbetta’s Mayor in Stitches: Here’s What Happened
Ariana Grande’s Potential New Album Sparks Excitement in Corbetta, Italy
The local government of Corbetta, Italy, has found itself momentarily distracted as Mayor Marco Ballarini reacts to possible news of a new album from pop star Ariana Grande.
In a recent TikTok posted on his official account, Ballarini is seen checking his phone, visibly shocked by the news suggesting that Grande may be teasing her eighth album. He quickly picks up his office phone, eager to share the news, and retrieves a photo of Grande from the 2018 Billboard Women in Music Awards, kissing it and tapping the picture fondly.
“ARIANA?!? AG8?!” reads text overlaying the clip.
In the video’s caption, he expresses his excitement in Italian, asking, “Is she about to release her eighth album?!” He further engages his followers in English, stating, “arianators we’re alive?!? [sobbing emoji]”
Ballerini’s enthusiasm reflects that of many fans eager for news about Grande’s potential album. As she prepares for her 2024 tour in support of her critically acclaimed Billboard 200 album Eternal Sunshine, Grande has updated her official hotline’s outgoing message, thanking her fans and expressing her anticipation for the upcoming summer tour.
“Our staff here at Brighter Days are so looking forward to continuing our mission of bringing happiness and healing to as many as we can this summer in person,” she says in the message. “We’ll see you this summer, and remember, there are always brighter days ahead.”
If Grande is indeed hinting at new music, it stands in contrast to her previous comments. Over the last year, she maintained that she was not planning to release a new album anytime soon. “I love [my fans] so much, but sometimes I want to ask, ‘Do you think there’s another version of me out there who had time to write an album?’” she told Variety in January. Grande clarified that she never mentioned specific timelines, stating she would need "an extra brain and four more arms" to meet fans’ expectations.
The Grammy-winning artist has also indicated a shift in focus toward acting projects instead of releasing new music. However, if plans have changed, fans will be eagerly anticipating announcements leading up to her Eternal Sunshine tour, which is set to kick off on June 6 and conclude on September 1.
