Ryan Gosling Joins the Cast of Daniels’ New Film, Their First Feature Since ‘Everything Everywhere All At Once’
New Project Set for Production with Major Talent Involved
Details about an upcoming project remain largely undisclosed, although filming is scheduled to begin later this summer in Los Angeles. Directors Kwan, Scheinert, and producer Jonathan Wang are set to collaborate through their overall deal with Universal Pictures. Recently, Kwan and Wang produced The AI Doc: Or How I Became an Apocaloptimist, which is set for release in theaters on March 27, 2026.
Production development at Universal will be overseen by Executive Vice President Sara Scott and Director of Production Development Jacqueline Garell.
This marks a significant comeback for directors Daniels, who achieved widespread acclaim at the 2022 Oscars with their film Everything Everywhere All At Once. The secret project was initially set up at Universal in 2024, and recent rumors suggest that while many roles will be filled by younger actors through auditions, the studio and Daniels aimed high for their leading cast member.
Ryan Gosling has officially closed his deal for the project, coinciding perfectly with the success of his latest film, Amazon MGM Studios’ Project Hail Mary. The film has achieved a notable $141 million globally, becoming Gosling’s largest opening to date, including $80 million in domestic markets. It has also crossed the $100 million mark in the United States.
Beyond impressive box-office numbers, Project Hail Mary has garnered outstanding reviews, notably becoming Gosling’s highest-rated film on Rotten Tomatoes. With critical acclaim directed toward his performance, the film is expected to remain a significant contender in next year’s awards season.
Gosling is also slated to feature in another major tentpole film, Star Wars: Starfighter, scheduled for release on May 28, 2027. He is represented by CAA and Sloane, Offer, Weber and Dern. The team behind Daniels is represented by Mosaic and Yorn, Levine, Barnes, Krintzman, Rubenstein, Kohner, Endlich, Goodell & Gellman.
