Neal Street Welcomes Former Left Bank Development Chief to Boost TV Projects with Sam Mendes’ Beatles Films
EXCLUSIVE: Neal Street Productions, known for its collaboration with Sam Mendes on Beatles-themed films, is expanding its presence in television and theater by introducing two new development roles.
Ed Cripps, who previously served as development chief for Left Bank Pictures, the studio behind *The Crown*, has been appointed as Development Producer. Meanwhile, Will Mortimer takes on the position of Theatre and TV Executive.
Cripps will focus on expanding Neal Street’s roster of scripted television projects while Mortimer will collaborate with the theater and TV development teams, working alongside Theatre Producer Georgia Gatti to support the creation of new stage projects.
Prior to joining Neal Street, Cripps led development efforts at Left Bank, which has produced notable works, including *Dear England*. He departed from Left Bank late last year, and his position remains unfilled. Mortimer previously worked with the Bridge Theatre.
In the television space, Neal Street, a subsidiary of All3Media, is recognized for its successful series *Call the Midwife*. However, the company has not secured a major project greenlight recently. Other credits include *Informer*, *Britannia*, and HBO’s *The Franchise*. In film, Neal Street is currently preparing Mendes’ *The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event* and co-produced the Oscar-winning *Hamnet*. The team also produced the BAFTA-nominated documentary feature *What They Found*.
Mendes co-leads Neal Street alongside Pippa Harris, Caro Newling, and Nicolas Brown.
“We are thrilled to welcome Ed and Will to Neal Street,” said Brown. “They both have impeccable taste and excellent relationships with writing talent, and we look forward to expanding our slate and strengthening our connections across screen and stage.”
