Jon Bernthal’s Punisher TV Special Gets a Release Date
Marvel’s "The Punisher: One Last Kill" Set to Premiere on Disney+
A new television special featuring Jon Bernthal as the Punisher will be titled The Punisher: One Last Kill and is scheduled to debut on Disney+ on May 12, coinciding with the season finale of Daredevil: Born Again.
Marvel announced the news today, unveiling a promotional poster across social media platforms. In a tweet, the official Punisher account confirmed, "Frank Castle returns in A Marvel Television Special Presentation: The Punisher: One Last Kill May 12, only on @DisneyPlus," along with the accompanying graphic.
Bernthal reprises his role as Frank Castle, the Punisher, and will also appear in Season 1 of Daredevil: Born Again. The special is described as being styled similarly to Werewolf by Night or The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. Bernthal is not only starring but also co-wrote the special with director Reinaldo Marcus Green.
This marks Bernthal’s return to the character, which he first portrayed on Netflix’s Daredevil during its second season in 2016. He subsequently starred in the standalone series The Punisher, which ran for two seasons from 2017 to 2019.
Daredevil: Born Again features original star Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, a blind attorney who transforms into a superhero. The series also sees Vincent D’Onofrio reprising his role as Wilson Fisk, also known as Kingpin, alongside Bernthal’s Punisher.
Other returning cast members include Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, Ayelet Zurer as Vanessa Fisk, and Wilson Bethel as Benjamin Poindexter/Bullseye.
The excitement surrounding this special demonstrates the ongoing interest in Marvel’s expanding universe, particularly in characters with rich backstories like Frank Castle.
