Fans Share Their Disappointment Over Hannah Montana’s Take on the New Starbucks Drink

Starbucks has launched a new drink inspired by the iconic show *Hannah Montana*, marking its 20th anniversary. The drink, featuring raspberry flavoring, is a nod that raises eyebrows, considering the fictional character Miley Stewart’s aversion to the fruit.
On Monday, March 23, the coffee chain announced the “Hannah’s Secret Popstar Refresher,” available on the Starbucks app’s “secret menu.” This beverage combines a strawberry açaí base with raspberry cold foam and raspberry syrup for a fruity kick.
However, this combination may not sit well with fans of the show, as it recalls a pivotal plot point. In the first season of *Hannah Montana*, Miley, who juggles a double life as a pop star, faces comedic turmoil when she becomes the face of a raspberry-scented perfume that triggers her nausea due to a childhood incident involving a raspberry pie-eating contest.
Fans quickly took to social media to voice their opinions. One user on X remarked, “RASPBERRY COLD FOAM?!? Did @Starbucks forget this important arc in *Hannah Montana*?!?”
“I’m crying out of every flavor in the world, Starbucks chose the one where there’s an entire episode based around the fact that Miley/Hannah hates it,” another fan posted. Commenting on Starbucks’ Instagram announcement, one user said, “Hannah herself would hate this flavor lol.”
Despite the mixed reactions, some speculated that the raspberry flavor was a deliberate reference to Hannah’s backstory. Starbucks seemed to acknowledge this interpretation on Instagram, stating, “For the fans who remember the raspberry saga, this one’s for you,” while the Disney Channel’s official account added, “the raspberry lore lives on!”
*Billboard* has reached out to Starbucks for further comment.
The unveiling of this secret refresher coincides with the upcoming *Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special* set to premiere on Disney+. The special features Miley Cyrus reprising her beloved role, showcasing songs from the series and revisiting the original set.
“It’s not just a TV show,” Cyrus reflected in a recent *Variety* article ahead of the special. “I see daily how important Hannah is to people. When I travel, people bring me ‘Hannah’ merch. They ask, ‘Are you ever going to do another season?’”
