Jorginho Shares Heartfelt Experience of His Daughter’s Distress During Breakfast Encounter with Chappell Roan’s Security Team

An incident involving Chappell Roan’s security team in São Paulo has left the 11-year-old daughter of professional soccer player Jorginho “extremely shaken.” The child, a fan of the singer, intended to attend Roan’s performance at Lollapalooza on Saturday night, March 21, with her mother.
In a complaint shared on Instagram, Jorginho described the encounter as upsetting. “I went through a very upsetting situation with my family earlier today,” he wrote in both Spanish and English.
According to Jorginho, his wife, Catherine Harding, and daughter were at a hotel restaurant when they spotted the pop star during breakfast. He recalled the moment: “This morning, my daughter woke up incredibly excited; she even made a sign because she was so happy to see an artist she really admires.”
When Roan walked past their table, Jorginho’s daughter recognized her and expressed her excitement. “She simply walked past the singer’s table, looked to confirm it was her, smiled, and went back to sit with her mum. She didn’t say anything, didn’t ask for anything,” he clarified.
However, Jorginho alleges that the situation escalated quickly. “A large security guard came over to their table while they were still having breakfast and began speaking in an extremely aggressive manner to both my wife and my daughter, saying that she shouldn’t allow my daughter to ‘disrespect’ or ‘harass’ other people,” he stated. “My daughter was sitting there in tears. My daughter was extremely shaken and cried a lot.”
Billboard has reached out to Roan’s representatives for comment but has not received a response as of press time. Roan was scheduled to perform later that evening at São Paulo’s Autódromo de Interlagos.
“It was just a child admiring someone,” Jorginho concluded in his post. He expressed disappointment regarding the treatment fans receive, stating, “It’s sad to see this kind of treatment coming from those who should understand the importance of fans. … No one should have to go through this, especially a child.”
Earlier this month, Roan was notably seen in Paris, documenting her experience of being surrounded by fans and photographers. During the encounter, she was heard expressing frustration at being unable to enjoy her dinner without interruptions, stating, “I’m just trying to go to dinner, and I’ve asked these people several times to get away from me.”
Roan, whose debut album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 in 2024, recently released two Hot 100 hits, “The Giver” and “The Subway.”
