Kathy Hilton Shares the Story Behind Her Iconic Pleated Hats and Her First Credit Card Purchase
Kathy Hilton Expands Fashion Influence with New Hat Collection
Kathy Hilton, known for her role as a star on "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" and as a prominent figure in the fashion world, is taking her brand to new heights. She has partnered with Australian designer Lorna Murray to launch a new collection of hats that aim to blend style with functionality.
The collaboration, featuring Murray’s signature sun hats, has recently debuted at Bloomingdale’s for the first time. “I started wearing them on the show, and it was kind of like my little trademark,” Hilton shared. “Now when I’m in airports, people go, ‘Is that hunky dory?’ They recognize the hat!”
Hilton discovered Murray’s designs while browsing through social media, declaring herself an avid Instagram user. Upon encountering Murray’s work, she immediately sent a message to the designer, who initially dismissed it as spam. Today, the duo is solidifying their partnership with a fourth joint collection and an upcoming appearance at the California Love Party at Bloomingdale’s Century City on March 21.
Reflecting on her early days, Hilton recounted how she first got a credit card at Bloomingdale’s, where she and her husband lived in New York City. “We’d wait for the big sale and buy all the pots and the pans,” she reminisced. The store has been a staple in her life, even during her pregnancies, when she would purchase robes in anticipation of her daughters, Paris and Nicky.
Her deep-rooted relationship with Bloomingdale’s and its current California-themed campaign coincides perfectly with her hat launch. “Here they’re very casual,” she observed. “It’s a little different in Southampton or even down in the desert …. they’re very preppy.”
Hilton noted that she seeks style guidance from her new “RHOBH” co-star Rachel Zoe, joking about making room for her in her closet for some much-needed fashion advice. Although she has given Lorna Murray’s hats to her fellow cast members in the past, she expressed a playful stance on gifting them more: “They can buy and have their choice.”
As Hilton’s influence in the fashion industry continues to grow, her fans eagerly await the new hat collection and her personal style evolution this season.
