Brilliant Minds Announces Return Date for Season 2 and Welcomes New Guest Stars Ed Begley Jr., Anne Archer, Mamie Gummer, and Ana Ortiz
NBC has officially announced the return date for the final six episodes of Brilliant Minds Season 2. The medical drama will resume on Wednesday, May 27, at 8 PM, taking over the timeslot for the remainder of the season, the network stated on Friday.
In addition, several notable actors have joined the cast in guest roles. Ed Begley Jr. (Better Call Saul), Anne Archer (The Dropout), Mamie Gummer (We Were Liars), and Ana Ortiz (Goosebumps) will all appear throughout the remaining episodes.
Begley Jr. and Archer are set to appear in Episode #220. Begley Jr. will portray Duke, a once-commanding patriarch facing the decline of his memories, while Archer will play Bonnie, a compassionate matriarch grappling with the gap between her dreams and her current reality.
Meanwhile, Gummer will take on the role of Regan in Episode #217. Regan is a psychiatric patient whose distressing experiences alienate her from everyone at Hudson Oaks, except for Wolf, who becomes invested in her case, unveiling deeper complexities.
Ortiz will appear as Alyssa Rivera in Episode #218. Recently released from prison, Alyssa is intent on reclaiming her former life, regardless of the challenges that may arise.
Brilliant Minds faced a hiatus when it was pulled from its 10 PM Wednesday slot in early February, with six episodes left, as NBC shifted to extensive coverage of the 2026 Winter Olympics. The network confirmed that The Voice: Battle of Champions would occupy the 9-11 PM timeslot starting February 23, leaving the future of Brilliant Minds in uncertainty.
Inspired by the life and work of author and physician Oliver Sacks, Brilliant Minds centers on Dr. Oliver Wolf (Zachary Quinto), a groundbreaking neurologist navigating the complexities of the human mind alongside his team of interns, all while managing their own mental health and relationships.
The cast of Brilliant Minds also includes Tamberla Perry, Ashleigh LaThrop, Alex MacNicoll, Aury Krebs, Spence Moore II, Teddy Sears, Donna Murphy, John Clarence Stewart, Brian Altemus, and Al Calderon.
Michael Grassi serves as the writer and executive producer, with Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Leigh London Redman, Lee Toland Krieger, DeMane Davis, Jasmine Russ, Henrik Bastin, Jonathan Cavendish, Andy Serkis, and Shefali Malhoutra also listed as executive producers.
Producers include Berlanti Productions, Fabel Entertainment, The Imaginarium, Grassi Productions, and Tavala, in association with Warner Bros. Television and Universal Television, part of Universal Studio Group.
Begley Jr. is represented by Innovative Artists Talent & Literary and Constellation Media Group; Archer is represented by Defining Artists & LINK Entertainment; Gummer is with CAA, and Ortiz is represented by Gersh and GEF Entertainment.
