BASEBALL
In Thursday’s City Section baseball action, Fremont triumphed over Jefferson with a final score of 8-5. Hollywood outscored Diego Rivera 17-7, while North Hollywood edged past Verdugo Hills 3-2. Port of Los Angeles defeated Gardena 9-4, and Sun Valley Poly claimed victory over Granada Hills Kennedy with a score of 4-3. Sylmar secured a solid win against San Fernando, finishing at 5-1, while Torres dominated Collins Family 13-1. University Prep Value also had a strong showing, defeating Alliance Ouchi 16-6.
In the Southern Section, Agoura overwhelmed Canyon Country Canyon, winning 16-0. Ayala narrowly defeated Corona Centennial 5-3, and Barstow blanked Silver Valley 10-0. Bishop Amat edged out Downey 2-1, and Bonita triumphed over La Serna 6-2. Brentwood posted a high-scoring victory against St. Monica, finishing at 17-11. Other notable games included Buckley defeating de Toledo 10-0, and Calabasas winning decisively against Foothill Tech 19-1.
In intersectional play, Borrego Springs edged Anza Hamilton 11-10, Compton Centennial defeated Downtown Magnets 13-3, and LA Hamilton dominated Inglewood 22-2.
SOFTBALL
The City Section softball matches featured Alliance Levine defeating Smidt Tech 13-10, Bravo overcoming South East 11-1, and Dorsey beating Environmental Charter 4-1. East Valley showcased a commanding performance, winning 15-0 against Bert Corona. Maywood CES edged Alliance Bloomfield 23-18 in a high-scoring affair.
In the Southern Section, ACE triumphed over Victor Valley 9-4, and Arcadia secured a 14-3 victory against Pasadena. A standout performance came from Buena Park, which annihilated Troy 16-0. Garden Grove Pacifica won decisively against Garden Grove with a score of 8-0.
In intersectional contests, Alemany defeated North Hollywood handily 11-1, while Animo Venice edged Glendale 11-10. Charter Oak outlasted Legacy 2-1.
