Comedian Jimmy O. Yang Announces Theatrical Release of New Comedy Special ‘Finally Home’
Comedian Jimmy O. Yang has confirmed the theatrical release of his third comedy special, Finally Home, which was filmed during a sold-out arena tour in his hometown of Hong Kong.
The special will screen exclusively at Emperor Cinemas in Hong Kong starting March 20, before expanding to theaters across the U.S. and Canada on March 27, distributed by Variance Films. Tickets will be available for purchase on March 17. A trailer for the special is available for viewing.
Yang, who humorously refers to himself as the “Taylor Swift of Hong Kong,” has crafted his latest special as a vibrant homecoming celebration that features pyrotechnics, musical performances, and surprise guest appearances. With this release, he achieves the milestone of becoming the first Chinese-American comedian to debut a stand-up special in theaters in both America and Hong Kong.
In Finally Home, Yang addresses themes of family, advocacy, and his experience as an immigrant returning to his hometown for the first time in 25 years. The hour-long special combines his English set with subtitled Cantonese, creating a culturally rich experience. It was filmed during a five-show sold-out run at the Hong Kong Coliseum in June 2025, where he entertained over 35,000 fans. The run was initially scheduled for two nights but expanded to five due to high demand.
A versatile talent, Yang recently starred in the Hulu series Interior Chinatown, directed by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Taika Waititi. He is widely recognized for his breakout role in HBO’s Emmy-winning series Silicon Valley and his memorable performance in Crazy Rich Asians. His other credits include Netflix’s romantic comedy Love Hard and the workplace satire Space Force, where he also served as a writer. Yang’s international stand-up tours feature his previous specials, Good Deal and Guess How Much?, which have garnered significant popularity on Prime Video.
In Finally Home, Yang took on multiple roles, having written, performed, directed, and produced the special himself. He is represented by Artists First, CAA, and Schreck Rose Dapello.
