HBO Announces Release Date and Trailer for Julio Torres’ Comedy Special ‘Color Theories’
HBO has announced that the comedy special Color Theories, created by Julio Torres, is set to premiere on Friday, March 27, at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT. The special will also be available for streaming on HBO Max, alongside the release of a trailer.
Following a successful off-Broadway run, Torres’ Color Theories serves as a guide to interpreting the world through his whimsical takes on various colors. Performing in New York City, Torres draws on his expertise of the unique characteristics associated with colors, exploring everything from the calmness of navy blue to the intensity of red. He reflects on personal experiences and broader cultural observations, blending stand-up with diverse media to present a multifaceted view of the world through his vibrant lens.
This marks Torres’ second special with HBO; his first, My Favorite Shapes, was released in 2019. Torres is also noted for his work on the comedy series Los Espookys and Fantasmas. Originally from El Salvador and now residing in Brooklyn, he has received four Emmy nominations for his writing on Saturday Night Live. Furthermore, Torres made his feature directorial debut with the A24 comedy Problemista, in which he starred alongside Tilda Swinton.
