Miley Cyrus Brings Back a Y2K Fashion Trend in the ‘Hannah Montana’ Special
Miley Cyrus to Celebrate 20th Anniversary of Hannah Montana with Special Event
Miley Cyrus is set to revisit her iconic role in Hannah Montana for a special commemorating the show’s 20th anniversary. The celebration, which includes a return to the beloved character, will premiere on Disney+ on March 24.
On March 10, Disney+ unveiled a teaser for the upcoming special, featuring Cyrus back on the original Hannah Montana set. The brief clip showcases her donning the character’s signature style, complete with a fitted denim jacket and matching capri pants. Accompanying her mother, Tish Cyrus-Purcell, the pop star fully embraces the nostalgic look.
In the teaser, Cyrus accessorizes her Y2K-inspired outfit with a sparkly black scarf, oversized gold belts, strappy black heels, and the character’s iconic blonde wig. This appearance contrasts sharply with her recent public outfit, a playful strapless orange fringe two-piece.
Also featured in the promotional material is Alex Cooper, host of Call Her Daddy, who will conduct a sit-down interview with Cyrus during the special. In one notable exchange, Cooper remarks that Hannah Montana “defined a generation.” Billy Ray Cyrus, who played her father on the show, makes an appearance as well.
Reflecting on her return to the set, Cyrus expressed her emotional connection to the series, stating, “This anniversary is for them, and it’s for us. This feels like home to me.”
Cyrus has shared the lasting impact of Hannah Montana on her life, emphasizing that the show will always be a part of her identity. "What started as a TV show became a shared experience that shaped my life and the lives of so many fans," she noted in a statement. "This ‘Hannahversary’ is my way of celebrating and thanking the fans who’ve stood by me for 20 years."
The 20th anniversary special is anticipated to resonate with fans and reflect on the series’ significant cultural impact since its debut.
