Officer-involved Shooting in Mid-City Results in Suspect’s Arrest
LOS ANGELES – A suspect is in custody following a shooting incident in the Mid-City neighborhood, reportedly triggered by an argument over loud music, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The events unfolded Tuesday morning in the 1800 block of Alsace Avenue, just south of Venice Boulevard. Police reported that the suspect, while seated in his car, allegedly brandished a gun at an individual who requested that he lower the volume of his music. Following the discharge of shots, the suspect fled into an apartment, leading to a brief standoff with law enforcement.
Authorities recovered multiple shell casings from the scene, where evidence markers were visible. Additionally, a gun and a knife were found behind a police vehicle. Investigators believe these items may have been discarded or seized during the arrest process.
Fortunately, there were no reported injuries among the suspect, officers, or any bystanders during the altercation.
The LAPD’s Force Investigation Division has been dispatched to the scene to initiate a formal review of the use of force involved in the incident.
As the investigation continues, key details remain unclear, including the number of shots fired and whether the suspect discharged his weapon during the confrontation. Police have not yet confirmed if the recovered gun and knife belonged to the suspect or their roles during the initial dispute.
In the coming hours, detectives will continue to examine the crime scene on Alsace Avenue, focusing on the evidence marked for ballistics analysis. A formal report detailing the specific charges against the suspect and findings from the use-of-force review is expected later today.
