G Flip and Vanessa Amorosi Team Up for ‘Absolutely Everybody’ at Melbourne Arena Concert
Surprise Collaboration Lights Up G Flip’s Melbourne Show
Australian pop sensation Vanessa Amorosi made an unexpected appearance during G Flip’s concert in Melbourne over the weekend, thrilling fans with a performance of her iconic early-2000s hit, “Absolutely Everybody.”
The surprise unfolded on Saturday night, March 7, at the Margaret Court Arena, where G Flip was performing as part of their Australian tour. As the drummer-turned-pop star delivered a lively set, Amorosi joined him on stage to the cheers of an energized audience. The performance turned into a delightful singalong as fans enthusiastically joined in on the chorus of the 2000 single.
Videos shared on social media captured the dynamic moment, showcasing Amorosi’s powerful vocals as G Flip animatedly interacted with the crowd. The unexpected duet transformed the atmosphere, energizing the packed venue.
Released in 2000, “Absolutely Everybody” marked Amorosi’s breakout success. The track reached No. 1 on the ARIA singles chart, remaining there for over six months, and became one of the longest-charting singles by an Australian female artist at that time. The song’s popularity also contributed to Amorosi’s reputation for her formidable vocal talent.
This cameo added to the excitement of G Flip’s current tour, promoting their recent album Dream Ride, which debuted last year. The tour follows the success of Drummer, which garnered an ARIA Award for Best Pop Release in 2023.
G Flip has been making waves internationally over the past year, with a series of performances spanning more than 35 dates across the United States and Canada, along with a headline show at London’s Brixton Academy. The artist was also nominated for an ARIA Award for Best Pop Release for the single “Disco Cowgirl” and was recognized in Out magazine’s annual Out 100 list for impactful LGBTQ+ figures.
Recently, G Flip collaborated with Canadian rock band The Beaches on the single "Lez Go!", with the band supporting them in their Australian tour. This current series of shows marks G Flip’s first significant tour in Australia since the success of Drummer, with upcoming performances scheduled in Adelaide and Perth.
