Southern California Prepares for a Hot Friday with Possible Record Heat
Southern California Brace for Possible Record-Breaking Heat
LOS ANGELES – Southern California is preparing for a significant heat wave this Friday that could break local temperature records, according to forecasts.
Meteorologist Soumada Khan from FOX 11 described the upcoming weather as "the summer sizzle in the middle of winter," cautioning that temperatures may approach record levels. Residents across the region can expect notably high temperatures, particularly in Los Angeles and Orange counties.
Interior valleys—including parts of the Inland Empire, San Fernando Valley, and Ventura—are projected to reach the low 90s. Coastal areas are expected to see highs in the low 80s, though morning fog may linger on Friday and Saturday. The forecast also indicates that mountain communities will experience afternoon highs around 70 degrees.
Friday is anticipated to be the hottest day of the trend, with a slight cooldown expected over the weekend. Dry conditions are set to continue in the following days.
In light of the elevated temperatures, the National Weather Service has issued warnings regarding potential heat-related illnesses. Officials advise residents to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours, and avoid leaving children or pets alone in parked vehicles.
Looking ahead, a gradual cooling trend is expected next week, with temperatures forecasted to return to the 70s.
