Sam Raimi Talks About Working With Rachel McAdams Again After Her Limited Role in ‘Dr. Strange’
Sam Raimi is reuniting with Rachel McAdams for the upcoming film, Send Help, after their collaboration in the MCU’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022). Raimi expressed a strong desire to work with McAdams again, drawn by her talent and the potential for a more substantial role.
In a recent interview with Total Film, Raimi noted, “First, she was the perfect person because she’s such a brilliant actress… I promised myself that I would work with her again. And then this film came up, and her warmth is wonderful.”
Raimi highlighted an intriguing aspect of McAdams’ new role: “The fact that she has not really played a dark, terrible villain before—[producer Zainab Azizi] is the one that told me this—really sets the audience up to be surprised.”

In Send Help, McAdams portrays Linda, who, along with her overbearing boss Bradley (Dylan O’Brien), survives a plane crash, becoming stranded on a deserted island. The duo soon finds themselves in a violent struggle for survival against their past grievances.
Raimi further elaborated on the film’s narrative focus: “Because the movie’s focus is not a whodunnit, but what comes next… That was an important factor, that she, this good person that we know and love, becomes this terrible villain.”
Send Help has officially hit theaters and is on track to achieve the No. 1 spot at the box office in its second weekend, even while competing with Super Bowl XL.
