Coffee Shop in OC Has a Surprising Side: It’s Also a Strip Club
GARDEN GROVE, Calif. – Neighbors in Garden Grove are raising alarms over DD Café, a business licensed solely as a coffee shop that is allegedly operating as a strip club. Undercover footage obtained by FOX 11 revealed a different scene inside, with female employees offering lap dances, cash-for-dance services, and permitting customers to bring in alcohol for a fee.
According to city records, DD Café is located at 10552 McFadden Ave. and is not authorized to conduct adult entertainment activities. On Thursday, the Garden Grove Police Department reported the arrest of 17 individuals at the café, though details regarding their identities or charges have not been disclosed.
Mytchell Mora, a former resident and news producer, expressed frustration over the situation. He has reached out to city officials, a nearby high school, and the school district multiple times over the past year, voicing concerns about the café’s proximity to La Quinta High School. “Everyone knows about it, and no one was doing anything about it,” Mora stated, highlighting that the Garden Grove Municipal Code prohibits adult entertainment establishments within 1,000 feet of educational facilities.
When approached by FOX 11 for comment, a woman claiming to be in charge of the café insisted it was "only a coffee shop" before requesting that reporters leave. Attempts to obtain a statement from the café’s owner were unsuccessful.
The situation escalated later that evening when the Garden Grove Police announced on social media that the establishment had been red-tagged, indicating an order for closure. A police representative explained that red tags can be issued for various safety or code violations.
Community members expressed a lack of surprise at the café’s operations, suggesting that similar establishments have become “an open secret” in the city, and they are calling for stricter enforcement of existing regulations.
