Peacock Brings Back the Erotic Thriller with Mandy Moore’s New Series ‘Teach Me’ and Other Exciting Projects
A notable trend has emerged in the entertainment industry, as multiple high-profile projects in the erotic thriller genre have been announced recently. This resurgence marks a significant revival for a genre that has largely remained dormant since its peak in the 1980s, which featured hits like Dressed To Kill, Body Heat, 91/2 Weeks, and the Oscar-nominated Fatal Attraction.
Streaming platforms have been at the forefront of this revival, actively seeking content that pushes boundaries. Following Paramount+’s reboot of Fatal Attraction, which starred Joshua Jackson and Lizzy Caplan, the genre has seen a surge of new projects in just a few months.

Among the latest entries is Teach Me, an erotic thriller drama in development at Peacock. Created by writer and executive producer Lisa Rubin and executive producer Jessica Rhoades, alongside A24 and Universal Television, the series stars Mandy Moore as a teacher who becomes embroiled in a complex power dynamic with a vulnerable yet unreliable student, exploring the intricate ties between sex, power, and addiction.
Also in development is Hancock Park, which has secured a script-to-series commitment at Netflix. This project, created by writer and executive producer Matthew Barry and executive producer Drew Comins with Fifth Season, stars Regé-Jean Page as a charismatic outsider who disrupts the lives of an ostensibly perfect Los Angeles family after he rents their guest house, revealing the underlying themes of desire, deceit, and obsession in one of the city’s most exclusive neighborhoods.
In addition, Fifth Season is advancing Dangerous Liaisons, a contemporary take on the classic 18th-century French novel, featuring insights into power, wealth, race, and romance set against the backdrop of the British elite. The company has recently opened a writers room for this intriguing project, which promises to be both emotionally charged and captivating.
Meanwhile, Night Float is another promising development from writer and executive producer Lila Raicek, adapted from her play Vertebrae. This drama revolves around an alluring young woman, played by Nina Dobrev, who becomes entangled in a dangerous relationship with an older doctor while living in hospital housing with her boyfriend, leading her into an illicit insider-trading scheme.
Counterpart Studios, founded by Tony Hernandez, Lilly Burns, and Elise Henderson, has also announced an erotic thriller in development, although specific details remain undisclosed.
On the film front, Gillian Flynn, known for Gone Girl, is collaborating with Darren Aronofsky, director of Requiem For A Dream, on an original erotic thriller currently set up at Sony Pictures.
Additionally, Fixation, an erotic thriller script by writers Erika Vazquez and Siena Butterfield, has been acquired by New Regency. The storyline focuses on a couple’s therapist who is drawn into a perilous web of lust and deception.
A separate project, tentatively titled Eternity, has commenced production in Italy this fall under the direction of Jamie Marshall. This erotic thriller features Meadow Williams, William H. Macy, and Nolan Gerard Funk, and revolves around Calvin Wells, a conman captivated by the mysterious billionaire widow Katrine Winters, leading him to uncover the hidden dangers of her glamorous lifestyle aboard her superyacht.
