Metric Shares Exciting News: New Album and 2026 North American Tour with Broken Social Scene and Stars
Metric Announces Upcoming Album and North American Tour
Canadian rock band Metric has revealed plans for their new album, Romanticize the Dive, set to release on April 24. The album’s first single, “Victim of Luck,” has already been shared with fans, coinciding with the announcement of their 2026 North American tour alongside Broken Social Scene and Stars.
Romanticize the Dive marks Metric’s tenth studio album, recorded at Electric Lady Studios in New York City. The album is produced by Gavin Brown, known for his work on the band’s previous projects, Fantasies and Synthetica, with additional contributions from co-producer Liam O’Neil and guitarist Jimmy Shaw. This forthcoming release follows Metric’s two recent albums, Formentera and its sequel, which debuted in 2022 and 2023, respectively.
The new single, “Victim of Luck,” embraces a nostalgic indie sound reminiscent of the early 2000s, featuring shimmering synth lines and a danceable beat by drummer Joules Scott Key. The track reflects on frontwoman Emily Haines’ earlier days as a burgeoning artist, highlighting themes of resilience and self-discovery. In the first verse, she sings, “I was a starving artist but I was fearless,” and later declares, “It’s time to live my life now like it’s never been done.” The official music video for the song will premiere at 12:00 p.m. EST.
In a recent press release, Haines elaborated on the album’s themes, stating, “The song ‘Victim Of Luck’ and really the entire album is about the romance of a less than perfect life. It’s about dropping the mask of self-consciousness and vanity. There was nothing for us to fall back on but we refused to give up… What we wanted is what we have and we’re not victims of anything.”
The 2026 North American tour, titled "All the Feelings Tour," will launch on June 8 in Austin, Texas, before traveling to various cities, including Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, and Brooklyn. The tour will conclude with a performance in Toronto on August 7.
Tickets for the tour will first become available during an artist pre-sale on February 4 at 12:00 p.m. local time, with general sales commencing on February 6 at 10:00 a.m. local time.
