Kardashian Sisters Use Kourtney’s Credit Card for Dash Store Inventory: ‘We Just Paid the Minimum’
Kim Kardashian Reflects on Early Business Challenges in New MasterClass
In her recent MasterClass, Kim Kardashian opens up about the early struggles faced by her and her sisters in establishing their first retail venture, Dash. Kardashian, who has since built a billion-dollar brand empire, recalls the financial hurdles they encountered when launching the store in 2006.
Reflecting on their initial days, Kardashian noted that the sisters secured a credit card, initially in Kourtney’s name due to her favorable credit history. “We didn’t have a history of being able to pay vendors back on time, so we had to pay for everything upfront,” she elaborated in her online class. This limitation forced them to rely on Kourtney’s credit card to purchase all their inventory, leading to a tough financial learning experience.
Kardashian admitted that early on, they relied heavily on credit. "We would pay just the minimum every month when the credit card bill would come. This is probably the worst advice because you probably should be paying your credit card bill off, but we just didn’t have the money," she revealed.
As an experienced entrepreneur today, Kardashian is committed to sharing insights with those navigating similar struggles. Her MasterClass, titled “New Rules of Business,” outlines her ten “Kimmandments” for building a successful brand and offers a glimpse into her journey toward creating a global enterprise.

Founded with a small inheritance from their late father, Robert Kardashian, the Dash boutiques thrived from 2006 until 2018. Kim reflects on these formative years, affirming that the tough lessons learned helped shape her approach to business today.
Now, with her MasterClass, Kardashian aims to guide aspiring entrepreneurs through the complexities of brand-building, emphasizing practical and actionable strategies for success. “These aren’t my suggestions; these are the rules I live by,” she states, underscoring the importance of resilience and adaptation in the fast-paced business world.
As a noted figure in personal branding, Kardashian’s initiative follows her family tradition; her mother, Kris Jenner, also teaches a class on personal branding. Other industry leaders such as Steph Curry and Martin Scorsese have similarly shared their expertise through the platform, further enhancing its reputation as a hub for aspiring creators and entrepreneurs.

Kardashian’s journey from a struggling entrepreneur to a successful business mogul serves as an inspiring narrative for many, reaffirming the adage that obstacles can pave the way for future success.
