Jesy Nelson has confirmed her separation from fiancé Zion Foster after a four-year relationship. In an interview with the Daily Mail on February 2, the Little Mix singer shed light on the difficulties they encountered surrounding their twin daughters’ health.
Nelson shared that the emotional toll of caring for their eight-month-old daughters, Ocean Jade and Story Monroe, who have been diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), contributed significantly to their breakup. “We have been through such a traumatic experience, and for us, our girls are our main priority and our main focus,” the 34-year-old musician explained.
According to Nelson, the push for a supportive environment for their daughters strained the couple’s relationship: “We want to give them the most positive, happy, and uplifting time and energy, and because we have both been through such a traumatic experience, the energy wasn’t right between us, which is understandable.”

Despite their separation, Nelson emphasized their commitment to co-parenting. “We are still friends and we are still united in raising our daughters. They are our main focus; that’s all we can do—be the best possible parents we can right now,” she added.
Recently, Nelson revealed the ordeal the family has faced, having been informed of their daughters’ diagnosis that could result in significant health challenges: “We were told they’re probably never gonna be able to walk; they probably will never regain their neck strength so they will be disabled.” This underscores the emotional weight of their current circumstances.
Looking ahead, she expressed a desire to remain present: “I am taking each day as it comes because right now, especially with the girls’ diagnosis, it’s all I can really do. If I try to look too far into the future, I will drive myself crazy.” She also reassured fans that her daughters are doing well and are happy, which she described as her primary concern.
Nelson and Foster began their relationship in January 2022, dating intermittently over the years. They collaborated musically, including the release of “Mine” in August 2024 and announced their engagement in September 2025, shortly after welcoming their daughters.
As Nelson navigates this challenging chapter, her focus remains steadfast on her children’s well-being.
