Celebrating Pete Crow-Armstrong and Jack Flaherty at Harvard-Westlake: A Heartfelt Prep Talk
Harvard-Westlake Celebrates Alumni Day, Honoring Major League Players
On Saturday, alumni day at Harvard-Westlake’s O’Malley Family Field featured a special tribute to the school’s nine former players who reached Major League Baseball. The Wolverines unveiled jerseys of these players displayed prominently on the outfield walls, a move that reflects the school’s growing legacy in the sport.
“That’s a good problem,” said Coach Jared Halpert, noting the possibility of needing more space as the number of honored players increases.
Among those recognized were Chicago Cubs outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong and Detroit Tigers pitcher Jack Flaherty, alongside former major leaguers Nik Turley and Josh Satin. The ceremony took place prior to a winter baseball game, drawing a crowd that included young players eager for autographs and many former students returning to support their alma mater.
In attendance was Jack Flaherty, who shared the moment with his mother at O’Malley Family Field.
Halpert mentioned that two more former Harvard-Westlake players are on the cusp of joining the majors, and first-round draft pick Bryce Rainer from the Tigers is expected to see his jersey displayed in the near future.
