Simi Valley Burglary Crew Pleads Guilty to $2 Million Heist
SIMI VALLEY, Calif. – Four individuals have pleaded guilty to their roles in a meticulously planned burglary that resulted in over $2 million in losses from a local jewelry store and coffee shop. The announcement was made by Ventura County District Attorney Erik Nasarenko on Wednesday.
The defendants—Manuel David Ibarra, Sergio Andres Mejia-Machuca, Camilo Antonio Aguilar Lara, and Heidy Nickolt Trujillo—admitted to using advanced tactics during the heist, which took place in May 2025. Their preparation involved detailed surveillance of the shopping center, cutting through the roof of the coffee shop, and tunneling through a shared wall to access the jewelry store’s safe.
The investigation by the Simi Valley Police Department revealed that the crew utilized a white Volvo SUV to transport tools and conduct their surveillance operations. During the burglary, they spray-painted security cameras and executed their plan with precision to steal cash and valuables.
Ibarra and Mejia-Machuca also pleaded guilty to a separate burglary at Simi Valley Pawn Brokers, adding to the severity of their charges, which include conspiracy to commit commercial burglary and possession of stolen property. All four defendants could face over four years in custody, with their sentencing scheduled for February 20, following provisions under California’s Proposition 36, which applies enhanced penalties for serious crimes.
District Attorney Nasarenko emphasized the calculated nature of the crime, stating, “This was not a crime of opportunity. These defendants planned carefully, conducted surveillance, and used specialized tools and techniques to carry out a highly sophisticated burglary that caused enormous financial harm. Their guilty pleas ensure accountability and reflect the strength of the evidence in this case.”
