Jennifer Lawrence Showcases Singing Talent on Amy Poehler’s Podcast
Jennifer Lawrence recently displayed her vocal skills while appearing on Amy Poehler’s Good Hang podcast. The actress revealed her favorite karaoke song, Shania Twain’s "Any Man of Mine," and sang a considerable portion when Poehler admitted she was unfamiliar with the track.
As Lawrence passionately performed the lyrics, “And if I change my mind / A million times / I want to hear him say / Yeah, yeah, yeah / I like it that way / Any man of mine,” Poehler enthusiastically supported her. “Oh my God, you’re good,” Poehler remarked, to which Lawrence cheekily replied, “I know, really good.”
Shania Twain, the song’s original artist, responded to the performance on social media. In the comments of an Instagram clip, she wrote, “The passion! The energy! The microphone grab!! 😂 Obsessed. Love ya Jennifer.. and you Amy! ❤️” Additionally, she praised Lawrence in a separate post on X, stating, “This is so perfect.”
Released in 1995 as the second single from her album The Woman in Me, "Any Man of Mine" helped catapult Twain to stardom. Twain commemorated the 25th anniversary of the album in 2020, expressing her disbelief at its lasting impact. “I cannot believe it is 25 years since I released The Woman In Me. This is really the album that started it all off for me,” she stated. “It was the first certified diamond album and 25 years later I’m still enjoying singing these songs every night. The album means a great deal to me. It’s been a very personal journey and I’m very grateful to this album.”
Most recently, Twain surprised audiences at Austin City Limits in October, joining Sabrina Carpenter for a duet of "That Don’t Impress Me Much," further emphasizing her enduring presence in the music industry. In her reflection on the surprise performance, Twain likened their collaboration to the deep friendship shared by iconic artists Dolly Parton and Loretta Lynn.
Twain’s latest studio album, Queen of Me, debuted in February 2023, continuing her legacy in the country music scene.
