George Clooney Reflects on Parenting Twin Children
George Clooney recently shared insights into the challenges of parenting his eight-year-old twins during a guest appearance on the podcast New Heights. The renowned actor, who welcomed twins Alexander and Ella in June 2017 with his wife, Amal Clooney, expressed that while his children currently "still dig" him, he anticipates that their affections may shift as they approach their teenage years.
" I got 8-year-olds, and they still dig me, you know?" Clooney remarked, humorously acknowledging the inevitability of change in their relationship as they grow older.
During the episode, hosted by Travis and Jason Kelce, Clooney admitted he has already seen signs of typical teenage behavior, including his daughter rolling her eyes in response to his playful declarations about his celebrity status. Clooney illustrated this experience by mentioning how she reacts to him saying, "’Hey, you know, your dad’s a big star,’ and she just rolls her eyes."
Despite the pressures of their busy professional lives, Clooney and his attorney wife prioritize family time. Speaking at a recent Netflix film premiere, Clooney emphasized their efforts to balance their dual careers with parenting responsibilities. "You try to pace it so that I’m doing it and then she’s home, and then she goes and I’m home. We try to mix it up a little bit," he explained.
Clooney, married to Amal since 2014, acknowledged the difficulties inherent in managing family life while maintaining their careers. "You’re never going to get it all right. No one does," he added, reflecting on the realities of parenthood.
While the couple celebrates their children publicly, they maintain a level of privacy regarding family matters. Amal Clooney shared that when hosting guests, she creates a distraction-free environment by collecting their phones. “Creating private moments and spaces is becoming increasingly difficult," she noted, explaining the importance of cultivating a safe space for genuine interactions.
Amal further emphasized the significance of maintaining boundaries for their children, stating, "We don’t put our children out there; we’ve never put their photo out there or anything like that."

In a related conversation, Clooney elaborated on their decision to raise their children away from the Hollywood spotlight, stating, "You know, we live on a farm in France… they’re not on their iPads, you know? They have dinner with grown-ups and have to take their dishes in. They have a much better life."
He expressed concern over Hollywood’s influence, stressing, "I felt like they were never going to get a fair shake at life… France—they kind of don’t give a s— about fame."
Clooney’s reflections highlight the challenges and joys of parenting in a public eye, emphasizing the importance of family intimacy and balance in their lives.
