Gracie Abrams publicly expressed her admiration for her boyfriend, actor Paul Mescal, on Friday, January 16. The singer-songwriter shared her thoughts on social media regarding Mescal’s role as William Shakespeare in *Hamnet*.
In her Instagram Story, Abrams began with a heartwarming photo of Mescal kneeling during a hike, captioning it, “Okay so.”
The Grammy nominee continued her tribute by posting a picture of Mescal embracing *Hamnet* director Chloé Zhao. She wrote, “I’ve found it nearly impossible to find the words to describe the weight of this film and the way it has remained in my bones since I saw it for the first time, but we are sat in the kitchen right now and I am looking back on these pictures and got immediately teary, so I’m just going to say that Chloe is singular.”
“Jessie [Buckley] is singular. Paul is singular,” she added, sharing another image of Mescal smoking a cigarette while wearing a Shakespeare T-shirt, captioned, “Also I love him surprise.”
Abrams concluded her posts by encouraging her followers to catch *Hamnet* in theaters while it remains in circulation.
The posts come shortly after *Hamnet* secured the award for Best Drama Motion Picture at the 2026 Golden Globes, where Abrams and Mescal were seen together at an afterparty.
Just three days later, Abrams announced her acting debut in A24’s *Please*, directed by Halina Reijn, though details about the film’s plot and her character remain undisclosed.
Fans have speculated about the couple’s relationship since the summer of 2024, when they were frequently spotted together in London. Mescal has attended Abrams’ concerts, and the couple made their first public appearance at the premiere of *Gladiator II* in November 2024.
Abrams has occasionally shared moments with Mescal on her Instagram, including a cozy image taken at Glastonbury in 2025. In September, when asked by *Rolling Stone* why they had decided to go Instagram official, Mescal responded, “I actually do have an answer, but everything to do with that is deeply precious to me, and I don’t want to … I want to protect those things fundamentally.”
