Annaleigh Ashford Joins Cast of Apple Limited Series ‘The Off Weeks’
Actress Annaleigh Ashford has been confirmed as a series regular in Apple’s upcoming limited series The Off Weeks. Known for her roles in Happy Face and Impeachment: American Crime Story, Ashford will join executive producers Jessica Chastain and Ben Stiller, who also stars in the project. Arian Moayed has also been cast in a key role.
The limited series, which consists of eight episodes, is produced by Apple Studios and developed by executive producer and showrunner Alissa Nutting. Directed by Michael Showalter, the narrative centers around Gus Adler, portrayed by Stiller, a writing professor whose life spirals out of control following a divorce. During "on weeks," when he has custody of his children, Gus struggles to manage his responsibilities. In contrast, his "off weeks" lead him into a complicated romance with Stella West, played by Chastain, whose unexpected entrance threatens to topple Gus’s fragile balance.
Ashford plays Jade, Gus’ next-door neighbor, adding to the dynamic of the series.
The Off Weeks is produced for Apple TV by global independent studio wiip. The executive producer team includes Nutting, Stiller through Red Hour, Chastain alongside Kelly Carmichael from Freckle Films, and Michael Showalter, who also serves as an executive producer alongside Jordana Mollick. Additional executive producers include Paul Lee and Gabriel Fisher for wiip, as well as Peter Principato, Allen Fischer, Brian Steinberg from Artists First, and Dean Bakopoulos, noted for Made for Love.
Ashford recently appeared in the Paramount+ drama Happy Face alongside Dennis Quaid. She earned a Primetime Emmy nomination in 2023 for her role in the Hulu limited series Welcome to Chippendales, featuring Kumail Nanjiani, Murray Bartlett, and Juliette Lewis. Her impressive television portfolio also includes Impeachment: American Crime Story, Bad Education, Unbelievable, B Positive, and Masters of Sex.
A celebrated Broadway performer, Ashford won a Tony Award in 2015 for her role in You Can’t Take It With You and received nominations for Kinky Boots and Sweeney Todd, the latter also garnering her a Grammy Award nomination and the Drama League’s Distinguished Performance Award. She is represented by CAA, Beth Rosner Management, and Schreck Rose Dapello.
