Jason Crowe Jr. from Inglewood Shines with Another Impressive 50-Point Game
Santa Monica High School Students Turn Out for Basketball Showdown Featuring State’s Top Scorer
On Monday night, the student section at Santa Monica High School buzzed with excitement, rivaling the energy typically reserved for Friday night games. This surge in attendance was sparked by the presence of Jason Crowe Jr., the leading scorer in California high school basketball, representing Inglewood High School.
The atmosphere during the game was initially respectful, as students applauded Crowe during player introductions. However, it didn’t take long for competitive spirit to set in, leading to chants of "Over-rated" directed at the star player. By the end of the match, the student energy waned as Inglewood claimed a commanding 117-76 victory, highlighted by Crowe’s impressive 50-point performance.
Inglewood’s record now stands at 18-5, with a perfect 4-0 in the Ocean League, solidifying their position as a Division 1 playoff contender. At just 17 years old, Crowe continues to dominate the court, often facing opponents who have been held back a year or two. He showcased his talent with seven three-pointers while also assisting 6-foot-7 junior David Conerly, who contributed 20 points to the team’s total.
With over 4,000 career points already accrued, Crowe’s tally is expected to increase as Inglewood employs a relentless full-court press against their opponents. His impending transition to college basketball in Missouri has garnered national attention, with Crowe casually noting, “A bunch,” when asked about signing autographs in the state.
On the opposing side, Santa Monica featured a promising 6-6 sophomore, Leo Pomianek. Recently eligible to play after transferring from St. Monica, Pomianek made a mark of his own by scoring a career-high 30 points while facing the challenge of guarding Crowe.
Crowe has earned All-CIF honors for three consecutive years and is on track to leave California as the state’s all-time leading scorer in high school basketball history.
