During an exclusive interview at the Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards on January 3, Fanning previewed some of the candid moments captured on her personal camera roll.
As she praised the existing Hunger Games series—including five novels by Suzanne Collins and four films—Fanning expressed her admiration for the fictional dystopian universe. “I love Panem. I mean, I am a big like O.G. film fan, you know? I love the movies. They’re very comforting to me. They’re such a great plane watch … just watch them all back to back,” she stated.

In Sunrise on the Reaping, Fanning takes on the role of a young Effie Trinket, a character previously portrayed by Elizabeth Banks. The film serves as the second prequel following 2023’s The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.
Elizabeth Banks, who has portrayed Effie Trinket in the first four films, expressed her enthusiasm about Fanning’s casting in May, stating, “I’m super excited. I texted the producers as well, and I think she’s perfect. I think everyone’s really happy.”
The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping will be released in theaters on November 20.
