Influencer Haley Kalil Reflects on Past Relationships Amid Legal Troubles
Haley Kalil recently opened up about her experiences with past relationships, revealing the emotional and physical abuse she endured. During an episode of Amanda Hirsch’s podcast, Not Skinny But Not Fat, which aired on January 6, Kalil shared her candid experiences as a victim of domestic abuse.
The timing of her revelations coincided strikingly with a legal battle she is now facing. On the same day the podcast episode was released, her ex-husband, Matt Kalil, filed a lawsuit alleging that she shared "invasive commentary" about their marriage during a Twitch livestream. Kalil’s comments, described as detailed and personal, have reportedly affected Matt’s ability to remain out of the public eye.
In the podcast, Kalil spoke frankly about her past relationships. “I’ve dealt, of course, as any girl has with a lot of emotional abuse in relationships, cheating, all of that stuff," she disclosed to Hirsch. She went on to reveal a particularly challenging relationship marked by physical abuse, which inspired her to create her video series, Billionaire Boyfriend. “That’s why in my first Billionaire Boyfriend [episode] I have a cast on my wrist, because domestic violence,” she explained.
Kalil expressed her desire to transform her experiences into personal growth. Following the abusive relationship, she committed to self-improvement. “After getting out of my ‘abusive relationship,’ I had committed myself to becoming the best person I could be,” she said. Despite these efforts, she acknowledged her struggles in choosing partners wisely, describing herself as a “bad picker.”
“I just keep picking them bad,” the 33-year-old model admitted. She noted her tendency to trust people too easily, sometimes misjudging their intentions. “I like somebody that has life experience and understands the complexities of life,” she added, emphasizing the importance of empathy in relationships.
In a notable exchange, Hirsch clarified that the abusive ex Kalil referred to during the podcast was not her former husband, confirming her assertions about dating and relationships prior to their union. Importantly, this first episode of Billionaire Boyfriend predated her public relationship with Brazilian model Kyle Vieira by approximately two years. Kalil has recently ended her relationship with Vieira, which was publicly recognized in 2024.
The podcast episode’s debut came amidst serious allegations from Matt Kalil, who contends that her comments during the Twitch stream, where Haley shared insights about their intimate life, have caused irreparable harm. In the livestream, she even implied that her ex-husband’s physical attributes were a significant factor in their divorce.
Following the lawsuit, Matt Kalil’s legal team labeled her remarks as “invasive” and damaging, arguing that they subjected him and his family to ridicule. “Haley disclosed private and intimate details that were of no legitimate public concern,” stated attorney Ryan Saba. He further characterized her actions as an attempt to gain fame and fortune at the expense of his client.
In response to the legal proceedings, Kalil’s counsel, Matthew Bialick, denied the claims, asserting the lawsuit is legally unsupported. “The claims seek to dramatically expand existing law,” he stated, emphasizing that they plan to dismiss the case promptly. His comments underline the potential implications of this lawsuit for public discourse about personal relationships.
In a heartfelt statement, Kalil expressed her shock and hurt upon learning about the lawsuit, describing litigation as a “harrowing and emotionally draining experience.” She also defended the authenticity of her podcast discussions, asserting the truth is available in the original livestream.
