The Housemaid, released on December 19, follows the story of Sydney Sweeney’s character, Millie Calloway, who fakes her résumé to secure a live-in nanny position with a wealthy family. Seyfried portrays Nina Winchester, the wife and mother of the household.
The film’s synopsis hints at a thrilling narrative: “Millie’s new job with the wealthy Winchesters pulls her into a sexy, seductive game of secrets and power — with shocking twists that keep you guessing to the end.”
Other cast members include Brandon Sklenar, Michele Morrone, and Elizabeth Perkins. Directed by Paul Feig, The Housemaid is based on the 2022 novel by Freida McFadden, which has two sequels titled The Housemaid’s Secret and The Housemaid Is Watching.
Discussing the series’ second installment, Seyfried noted, “It’s about Syd and her working for a new family. There’s so much that happens, especially with Michele’s character Enzo.” She also expressed her excitement to see how her character, Nina, remains significant in the storyline, saying, “I will jump the f— back into that.”
Sweeney has also expressed interest in reprising her role. “I would love to,” she stated. “I was such a huge fan of the books, so I would be just as happy as everyone else being able to see more Housemaids come to life and getting to explore more of Millie.” The Euphoria star described her character as “spicy,” adding, “She knows what she believes in and she stands up for it. I love characters like that.”

I can’t help but feel somewhat protective of her, though she doesn’t need my protection.”
Currently, The Housemaid is screening in theaters nationwide.
