- In July 2025, Dave Navarro filed a $10 million lawsuit accusing Jane’s Addiction bandmate Perry Farrell of assault and battery following a “brutal and unprovoked” attack at a concert in Boston in September 2024.
- Farrell denied the allegations in a September 2025 response and issued an apology on December 17, the same day Jane’s Addiction announced their breakup.
- The former bandmates subsequently settled, leading to the dismissal of the case by the Superior Court of California, County of Los Angeles, on December 22.
The legal disputes among the members of Jane’s Addiction have reached a resolution, concluding a tumultuous chapter for the iconic rock band. On December 22, 2025, the Superior Court of California dismissed lawsuits involving band members Dave Navarro, Eric Avery, Stephen Perkins, and Perry Farrell, according to court documents.
This dismissal came just a week after the band publicly announced their split, with Farrell, now 66, issuing an apology to his bandmates and fans.
The legal trouble traces back to a concert in Boston in September 2024, where Navarro, 58, along with Avery, 60, and Perkins, 58, alleged that Farrell attacked Navarro during the performance. In July 2025, they filed a $10 million lawsuit citing assault and battery, as well as emotional distress, negligence, and breach of contract.

In a response issued in September 2025, Farrell denied all allegations, requesting the dismissal of the lawsuit and seeking to recover legal fees. He aimed to prevent Navarro from receiving any compensation from the lawsuit.

On December 17, Farrell expressed regret via Instagram, apologizing to everyone affected by the incident in Boston. He acknowledged that he did not manage his temper appropriately and assured followers that his intention had always been to deliver an authentic and positive performance.
That same day, the band confirmed their split, expressing regret for prior statements regarding Farrell’s mental health and their decision to cancel the tour after the Boston show. “We are proud of the music we created together,” the group stated, looking toward future individual endeavors.
