Percy Jackson & The Olympians Welcomes Holt McCallany, David Costabile, and Jesse L. Martin to Season 3 Cast
EXCLUSIVE: Disney’s highly anticipated series Percy Jackson and the Olympians has announced the cast for three notable characters set to debut in Season 3, including the formidable Titan Atlas.
Holt McCallany will portray Atlas, a character known as the Bearer of Heaven, who was condemned by Zeus to support the weight of the celestial heavens following the Titan war against the Olympians. Recently liberated from his burden, Atlas is poised to rally the armies of Kronos for vengeance.
The upcoming season is expected to align with the events of Rick Riordan’s third novel, The Titan’s Curse, in which protagonist Percy Jackson embarks on a mission to rescue the goddess Artemis and Annabeth, who have been kidnapped by Atlas.
Additionally, Jesse L. Martin joins the cast as Frederick Chase, Annabeth’s mortal father. Described as a brilliant but somewhat absent-minded military historian, Frederick is characterized by a complicated yet loving relationship with Annabeth, as they work to reconnect.
McCallany and Martin will join returning cast members Levi Chrisopulos and Olive Abercrombie as Nico and Bianca di Angelo, along with Dafne Keen as Artemis and Saara Chaudry as Zoë Nightshade.
Currently, Season 2 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians is airing weekly on Disney+, while production for Season 3 is underway in Vancouver. In Season 2, Percy (Walker Scobell) returns to Camp Half-Blood to find his world drastically altered. He navigates changing dynamics with Annabeth (Leah Sava Jeffries), discovers he has a cyclops brother named Tyson (Daniel Diemer), and confronts challenges as the camp faces threats from Kronos and his forces.
Holt McCallany, fresh off appearances in Netflix’s The Waterfront and Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 2, has a diverse portfolio that includes notable roles in Mindhunter, Justice League, and more.
In contrast, Jesse L. Martin has had a prolific television career, with his recent lead role in NBC’s The Irrational and memorable appearances in series like Law & Order and The Flash.
Industry insiders eagerly anticipate the upcoming season’s release as it promises to deepen character arcs and explore significant plotlines from the beloved book series.
