Meet Luke Fahey: Mission Viejo’s Football Player of the Year
Mission Viejo Quarterback Luke Fahey Signs with Ohio State
Mission Viejo High School’s star quarterback, Luke Fahey, has officially signed with Ohio State, marking a notable step in his football career. His 2025 season statistics underscore his potential, reinforcing his place in the tradition of Southern California quarterbacks.
During the season, Fahey demonstrated remarkable skill over 11 games, recording only three interceptions while completing 71% of his passes. He amassed a total of 3,199 passing yards and threw for 25 touchdowns, adding six rushing touchdowns to his impressive resume. His standout performance included a school-record 569 passing yards against Los Alamitos and a crucial touchdown pass that secured a narrow 7-6 victory over Santa Margarita, the eventual Southern Section Division 1 champion.
Fahey proved to be a pivotal player for Mission Viejo, especially in high-pressure situations. Coach Chad Johnson praised his leadership, stating, “He’s the best leader I’ve had in 25 years of coaching. He’s the total package.” Fahey’s exceptional performance earned him the title of The Times’ Back of the Year.
Before this season, Fahey shared quarterback duties, demonstrating patience and selflessness as he awaited his opportunity to shine as the full-time starter. “He was sharing reps and didn’t allow everyone to see his greatness and what he could be. Ohio State saw it. It’s going to be crazy what he can do at the next level,” Johnson noted.
A memorable moment that highlights Fahey’s character occurred after a game at St. Paul. He was the last player to leave the visiting locker room, taking the time to clean up before boarding the bus—an act that did not go unnoticed by his coach. “Remarkable,” Johnson remarked.
As Fahey moves forward to Ohio State, his performances and character will continue to attract attention, setting the stage for what promises to be an exciting chapter in his football journey.
