$3.6 Million Mega Millions Ticket Sold in California
Torrance, Calif. – A Mega Millions ticket sold in Torrance has won a prize of $3,665,298 by matching five numbers in the latest drawing.
The winning ticket was purchased at Retailer Bros, located at 4437 Sepulveda Blvd. Ste B. In Tuesday night’s drawing, the numbers drawn were 4, 13, 52, 53, 69, with the Mega number being 10. While the ticket matched all five main numbers, it did not include the Mega number.
Due to California’s unique pari-mutuel payout system, the prize for this ticket was higher than the typical base value of $1 million. In this case, the base prize of $1,832,649 was doubled to over $3.6 million because the ticket featured a 2x multiplier. This approach differs from most states, where prizes are fixed amounts. For comparison, a similar ticket sold in New Jersey for the same drawing is valued at $3 million, benefiting from a 3x multiplier on the standard $1 million prize.
Tuesday’s drawing represented the second since the last jackpot was awarded. With no one matching all six numbers on March 24, the jackpot has rolled over. The estimated jackpot for the next drawing, scheduled for Friday, is set at $70 million.
Players have until Friday evening to buy tickets for this upcoming drawing. The odds of winning the jackpot by matching all six numbers remain at 1 in 290,472,336, while the overall odds of winning any prize in the game are 1 in 23.
